Optimism Happens Faster With Broadband
As the Cable Show '09 came to a close in April, the Hollywood Reporter wrote about cable’s "Picture of optimism." CNET said the industry came to Washington, DC to "defiantly show off its optimistic outlook for the future." And investment firm Sanford Bernstein said the cable business "is growing everywhere…even in the weakest/highest unemployment geographies."
We’ll second that. After all, we’re coming off a Show that's growing even in a challenging economy. Among the 12,000 plus attendees who joined us this year were 100 members of Congress, more than 300 federal agency officials and Congressional staffers, and nearly 300 exhibitors.
In the middle of it all was The Cable Show’s new Broadband Nation exhibit. It dazzled onlookers with real-life depictions of how cable’s high-speed networks are improving education, medicine, communications and more. As U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said in opening the exhibit: "The advent of broadband and cable…is the next great economic development that will rival electrification of rural America."
Speaking of electrifying, The Cable Show momentum will continue as the Show moves to Los Angeles, May 11-13, 2010. And if you thought The Cable Show ’09 rocked, wait until you see what’s next.
