Cox’s "Xpanded Bandwidth" Holds Onto Top Slot in Closing Night Charity Concert
WASHINGTON, DC – More than $150,000 in cash, equipment, books and in-kind donations was raised as part of CableCares, the cable industry’s community service initiative to help improve Washington, DC schools and assist local charities during The Cable Show '09. The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) estimates that more than 225 volunteers from cable industry companies, organizations, and associations contributed their time to volunteer on behalf of the several CableCares activities.

A full slate of cable industry meetings, events and conferences is on tap for the first-ever “Cable Connection” weeks scheduled for April 1 - 7, 2009 in Washington, DC and October 25 - 30, 2009 in Denver. This past March, NCTA’s Board of Directors approved a plan to realign the national industry meetings and events produced by cable associations and professional societies into two weeks – one in the spring and one in the fall. While the overall schedule has been cooperatively coordinated by the various organizations involved, each sponsoring organization will plan and execute its respective events.

The Cable Hope Fund now has officially donated more than $280,000 collected during The Cable Show '08 CableCares initiative to community rebuilding organizations in the New Orleans area. The donations were made possible by contributions from cable industry companies, organizations, and individuals in support of the local communities affected by Hurricane Katrina.
