This year's Battle of the Bands Charity Fundraiser raised $95,000 for City Year, with proceeds benefiting Washington, DC, schools and local youth service projects. The second annual event, which featured acts from cable companies and the media, celebrity host and judges, and a special headline performance, closed out The Cable Show '09 in top form.
For the second year in a row, Cox Communications' Xpanded Bandwidth grabbed the winning title by a close margin. Hometown favorites, the TV Rejects, made up of employees from C-SPAN, Retirement Living TV, CableFAX and Broadband Gear Report took home the second place prize. Juniper Network's, Full Mesh, came in a very close third.
It was a great party, for a great cause.
Next stop on the tour - LA. The third installment of The Battle of the Bands rocks the west coast when The Cable Show moves to Los Angeles May 11-13, 2010. And in true LA-style, this promises to be the biggest, brightest, boldest Battle yet. Stay tuned for details.
