At the helm of BendBroadband for over a decade, Tykeson has taken the company to the forefront of broadband technologies, launching high speed data in 1997, digital cable in 1999, HD & VOD in 2004, digital simulcast in 2005 and phone service in 2006. BendBroadband is among the first cable systems nationally to offer all-digital video service. Beyond technological accomplishments, Tykeson is committed to furthering the team-based, customer-focused culture that drives satisfaction, loyalty and performance and ensuring an unencumbered future for the cable industry through lobbying efforts at the state and federal levels.
Tykeson is the 2007 recipient of the Distinguished Vanguard Award. She is a Past President of the Oregon Cable Telecommunications Association Board and Chairs the Small & Rural Operators' Council as a member of the NCTA Board of Directors. She serves on the Board of Directors for CableLabs and CSPAN. Tykeson was inducted into the Cable TV Pioneers and serves on their Board. In addition, she is a Trustee of the Tykeson Family Charitable Trust and a board member of Economic Development for Central Oregon's Board. Past experience includes the Young President’s Organization; Vice Chairman of the Catlin Gabel School Board of Trustees; University of Oregon Alumni Association Board.
Tykeson got her start in 1980 with Home Box Office, serving ultimately as VP of Area Marketing in New York. She was the 1986 President of Women in Cable & Telecommunications (WICT). Tykeson has earned the CTAM Mark Award, the WICT Accolades Award and the Wonder Woman Award. She was named Independent Cable Executive of the Year by Multichannel News in 2007 and CableFax Magazine in 2008. She is one of the top 50 most influential Women in Cable, according to CableFax magazine.
