The drive toward personal, time-shifted television, coupled with rapid increases in high-definition TV streams, demands that cable providers identify more efficient video compression techniques. Authors describe new approaches for multiplexing and transmission, including a look at the new DVB-C2 specification; consideration of combined media processing/variable bit rate multiplexing; and the requirements for successful implementation of 1024-QAM modulation.
